The negative side of the sanctuary: Indian Wild Ass Sanctuary is located in the Little Rann of Kutch in Gujarat. It’s spread over 4954 km², it is the largest wildlife sanctuary in India. The sanctuary is one of the last places on earth where the endangered wild ass sub-species Indian Wild Ass (Khur) (Equus hemionus khur) can be spotted. The problem here is freshwater and so many animals have lost their lives because of no resources available for them in the sanctuary.
The state government is very sluggish, except building a forest officials resting places they won’t did anything for the saving of the endangered species. I had observed that the trucks drivers daily carrying water for these officials resting places but they won’t built up any water tank for wild animals here. As per our guide, he said that there was more than thirty Wild Ass was died because of no water available for them in the scorching heat of 46/47 degree Celsius. I hope the forest department will do some good work and the water resources will be made available for these wild animals.
